A LIST OF THE BEST KNOWN FAST FASHION BRANDS
SHOULD WE AVOID THESE BRANDS?
What is Fast Fashion? Low cost, trendy items that are mass produced and quickly put out by the brands to the consumers. Sometimes they also may have less than par ethical practices as in unfair practices in big factories and poor wages for their employees, cheap materials that are moved quickly from the catwalk to stores to take advantage of trends. These are based off of popular celebrity clothing or what is currently seen on the catwalk. Mainstream consumers (pretty much everyone reading this) can go out and buy the hottest new looks and next big thing for a very affordable price. Cheaper, faster manufacturing and shipping methods are often used and especially younger people can indulge in the what’s known as the pleasure principle. Also known as instant gratification of having what’s in. Shopping used to be a major event. Now it is much more common to buy what you want when you want and when a new trend comes in replace it with what is currently in.
In the last blog post- we discussed what a sustainable fashion brand is and why it is important to support them. Dissent Wear strives to be just that. We are just that. It is something we take pride in. While we are not 100%, we are always improving and learning.
SO just who are the most well known and biggest fast fashion brands? Without further adieu here is a list.

OKAY WE HAVE LIKELY ALL SHOPPED AT AT LEAST ONE OF THESE PLACES, RIGHT??
Can we really avoid fast fashion?? Probably not. It is a quick and easy way to get the top current looks. I am not here to make you feel badly about your favorite store. Realistically, unless you have an unlimited budget you are likely not going to ever avoid any fast fashion. Plus let’s face it, there are some really cute clothes.
BUT what we can do is shop sustainable whenever possible. Make an effort to support smaller shops and brands that work hard to be ethical.
Dissent Wear’s prices are not that different then some of the stores listed above. Face it, I won’t be getting rich off of you buying from me, however, you are supporting a family, a mother and her dream of proving you can do anything you strive to do and it is never too late. Even with 8 kids and medical crisis’ that appear :)
